Sigh. Blocks from where a man was killed in a hit-and-run on Friday, a 65-year-old Brooklyn woman was fatally struck by a livery cab yesterday morning. The Daily News reports that Barbara Tjornhom had been headed home from church when a driver, making a right at 6th Avenue and 52nd Street in Sunset Park, hit her. Tjornhom died at Lutheran Medical Center.
The driver, who stayed at the scene, was not charged, but Tjornhom's husband, who wasn't with his wife at the time, said, "He said he didn't see her. How could he not see her?" A witness at the scene said the driver was crying.
Tjornhom's husband also added that he asked his wife, a cancer survivor, to be careful before she left and that "she did everything for everybody."

when I went to get my driver's license, I asked my driving instructor how the hell I could drive with so many people on the street? Wouldn't I hit someone some time? He told me "you have to be prepared to kill people, when you drive in a city as congested as this one, they won't put you in jail, all you have to say is that you didn't see them, don't worry about it". So, that's when I knew, driving was evil.
The driver was probably on the phone.
Yet another reason not to go to church.
BAH GAWD ALMIGHTY. Stop the match.
