Last Night's Action: Putting the Power in Power Play

2006_10_srangerslogo.jpg

  • Rangers 6, Maple Leafs 1: Nothing like making opponents pay dearly for their trips to the penalty box. The Rangers scored five of their six goals on the power play -- Blair Betts' icebreaker was the only even-strength goal -- and won their second straight game. This came against a Maple Leafs team that has struggled in the Northeast Division this season, but that won't bother Petr Prucha (two goals) or Jaromir jagr (one goal, three assists). Steve Valiquette has enjoyed playing at home in Toronto. Both his wins backing up Henrik Lundqvist have come north of the border.

  • Islanders 5, Devils 2: This game was much closer than it looked. Andy Sutton's game-winner didn't come until 11 minutes, 43 seconds had elapsed in the third period. He did pick a great time to score his first of the season. Wade Dubielewicz impressed in net and earned his first win as a starter. This is the first time he's even kept his team in the game.

  • Nets 97, Bucks 95: Do the Nets even know how they won this game? They didn't get a typical night from Richard Jefferson or an outstanding effort from Vince Carter. What they did have was great shot selection (50 percent from the floor) and great defense by Josh Boone on Milwaukee's big men. Jason Kidd's 15 assists didn't hurt either.

i'm a rangers fan so i don't even know why i am commenting on this, but you keep slagging off wade dubielewicz. he may not be the best goalie the islanders have, but i do seem to remember his play being the key reason the islanders even made the play offs last year.

cut the dude some slack.
