In November, we wrote about famed realtor Barbara Corcoran advising home owners to ditch their lawns and gardens in favor of a concrete parking spot. Some homeowners really take this advice to heart and insist on wedging an extra parking space onto their property even when it's not very practical, or possible. Above is a cropped portion of a picture posted at Queens Crap. While this sidewalk-blocking parking job at 68th St. and Hull Ave. looks ridiculous at first glance, Queens Crapper points out that the owner also had to build a makeshift plank system under the front of the car to prevent the sedan from bottoming out on the steep grade. Perhaps a Smart Car would have been a better vehicle choice for this driveway.

that looks like san francisco parking.
what the F? the dude has a garage already! Greedy.
Betcha didn't know: a driveway is not a legal parking spot. It is a means for one to drive their car into a garage or parking shed - thus the word "driveway." (The word "parkway" refers to roadways meant to, among other places, deliver people to parks. So the next time you hear the joke "Why do people drive on parkways and park on driveways...?" you know the answer.)
In theory, that car in the picture, and any other car parked in a driveway, can be ticketed under the city's building code.
Having said that - the Buildings Department should not ever allow these arhitectural and engineering nightmares to occur in the first place.
1. They need to ticket people who park on the sidewalk.
2. Parking needs to cost what it costs to build it (at least dollars per hour).
3. I own a car and I know that I am getting mad freebees from America, when cars cost what they cost the nation, state, city and world, people will use them less and demand more public transit.
4. Car Drivers and owners attitude towards the world is Me-Me-Me.
5. I love Queenscrap!
This can't possibly be legal. Why hasn't anyone complained?
Even if someone did complain, it's a matter of enforcement--a concept that is lost on many in Queens.
I'm just imagining some kid on a bike or a roller blader cruising down that hill, pulling a hard right, and BAM! into the rear panel of that car.
Anything that forces people in the street, should be ticketed.
What that guy backs his car out of the driveway, do you think he can see whats behind him? He has a great view of the open sky through his rearview.
enough of the anti-car BS. its getting tired. except for you paupers who rant on this board, most people own cars -- get over it.
Wrong SimonLok, this is nyc, most people DON'T own cars. go back to iowa.

cars parked like this should get damaged by bat-weilding pedestrians.
