Rocket Gets Righteous on Roids

2007_12_clemenspitch.jpgRoger Clemens is certainly good at issuing statements. Last week it was a vehement denial of the Mitchell Report findings, this week it is a denial and a lecture. Clemens’ agent released a statement yesterday that included the following:

"I am disappointed that my 25 years in public life have apparently not earned me the benefit of the doubt, but I understand that Senator Mitchell's report has raised many serious questions. I plan to publicly answer all of those questions at the appropriate time in the appropriate way. I only ask that in the meantime people not rush to judgment."
It sounds good in theory, but it fails to answer the question of why didn’t Clemens talk to Mitchell when he was given the opportunity to do so? On Page 175 of the report Senator Mitchell states “In order to provide Clemens with information about these allegations and to give him the opportunity to respond, I asked him to meet with me; he declined.” So, like almost everyone else named in the report, Clemens chose to ignore Mitchell when asked to help the investigation.

And, now that Andy Pettitte has confirmed Brian McNamee’s accusations against him, the “evidence” against Clemens becomes more believable. But, that may be the least of Clemens’ problems because Congress is interested in his situation. If they call him to testify he would be under oath, then we would really get to see him in a pressure situation.

Bonds, Sosa, Sheff etc all denied using steroids at first until the evidence came out to the public. You aren't fooling anyone, Rocket.

I'm 100% sure he did it. And I'm a Yankee's fan.

Here is a tip, if the cops come by your home and say they'd like to "talk" to you about some drug use or dealing they heard you were involved in....DON"T TALK TO THEM, CALL YOUR LAWYER and get some legal advice which will be DON'T TALK TO THEM.

If they have evidence you did something illegal they can charge you with a crime. If they don't have any evidence you don't want to chance screwing up in an interview and getting involved in some long legal hassle in which you might well get screwed even though you are innocent.

Mitchel is supposed to be this nice grandfather type but fact is he is making deals with dealers and using the FBI as his consultants on how to carry out his process. Screw him.

Willie Mays used speed, Mantle was a drunk and so on...who cares? This is pro ball and is subject to all the crap we find in any extreme money making enterprise like say.....mortgages lending or war mongering.

Rocket was a great pitcher and brought many thrills and chills to fans. Leave him and the others alone, this is all nonsense.

Mantle was a drunk and so on

Alcohol does not "enhance" performance.

Players that use steroids, HGH, etc are disrespecting the game, the other players who do not use, legendary players like Mays, Mantle, etc who did not use performance enhancing drugs, and the fans.

HGH, steroids, modafinil, etc are not the same as being an alcoholic, and yes, are a big deal. They are bad for the sport, and are dangerous for the athletes and for the teenagers who look up to them.

Excuse me but speed ( which Willie among others used ) certainly enhances performance, in my college days the whole defense on our football team was cranked up on black beauties and they went undefeated. If kids are looking up to drunks and womanizers is that really much better than these guys?? Kids should be encouraged to look up to role models such as hard working parents, teachers, honest political or religious leaders (if you can find any), war heroes and so on...rich athletes driving around in Rolls Royces are hardly good role models whether or not they are shooting junk into their butts.

Well, obviously.

Are there no heroes left in sports anymore?

Kerri Strug is a hero.
