The family and friend of the Minnesota tourist who took a fatal plunge from a Midtown hotel this past weekend are saying her death is not a suicide. Twenty-one-year-old Jennifer Olson fell 60 feet from a fire escape at the Night Hotel and earlier reports suggested she jumped, but her friend, Timothy O'Neill, told the Daily News, "I don't believe it was suicide. I believe it was accidental. After drinking six or seven hours, people aren't thinking clearly."
O'Neill had won tickets to the Z100 Jingle Ball and invited Olson to travel to New York with him. While a witness told the Post yesterday that O'Neill seemed to be annoyed with Olson for talking with other men and that an argument started, prompting Olson to step onto the fire escape, O'Neill, described in the Daily News as her boyfriend, disputed that account. He said, "All evening we were laughing with the people at the bar about how we met. They said it must have been destiny. We were having a blast." O'Neill also blamed himself, saying, "If we had never went, this would have never happened."
Interestingly, the Star-Tribune reports that Olson's father didn't think Olson and O'Neill were dating. At any rate, her family doesn't bear any ill will towards O'Neill. Olson's sister told the Daily News that Olson "suffered from depression and was on anti-anxiety medication" - and that her sister's anxiety got worse while drinking: "When she had an anxiety attack, she felt like she was losing control of things. But I never thought this would happen."
And the family is trying to get Olson's body released from the city's medical examiner for a funeral.

Paging Dick Wolf. Paging Dick Wolf.
Nice set. what a waste.
Nice pair, indeed.
Yeah, a woman's value is only in her boobs. YEAH!
Nothing like a young and fresh body being wasted.
2, 3 & 5 took the words right out of my mouth.
For the record, condolences to the Olson family and her friends.
Thanks, Dave, appreciate that.
I saw this on the newsmap the other night. I wish there was more follow-ups with things that went on there.
Condolences to the family and the friend involved.
She does have a nice set, though. I'd hit that harder than pavement.
I'm going to hell.

Anyone who would willingly go to Z100's Jingle Ball is clearly unstable.
Do any of you have a soul? A life was lost here. Family and Friends(like myself) are reading these things to get a better hold of what happened and you lowlifes are commenting on her breasts and commenting on what a waste of a body. Screw you all. Just so you know Karma is a B*tch and it will catch up to you. Jen was a great person and will be missed dearly, She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend and certainly does not need to be disgraced by the scum bags of new york.
Cram it, you lowlifes. It doesn't seem real to you because you do not know her, but it is real to her family and friends. Stop being scumbags for five minutes and go post about an art installation or hipsters and take your meanness out there.
If she fell through my skylight I wouldn't call the police right away either.

i think new yorkers are fair game. dis away.
or at least most of them who post here, anyway.
Listen to me you insignificant piles of sh*t i went to school with this girl, she was my cousins ex of about 4 years, and was one of the nicest girls i ever met, and all you virgin computer nerds can talk about is her chest. you all need to grow up and get lives, how would you like it if your mothers, girlfriends, sisters, i dont care who, died and i sat here and talked about her like that... i suggest it stops because i will come find you and trust me... that is no joke, its not even a threat, its a promis.
this is the sickest thing i have ever read in my life..
here i am..mourning over my close cousin's death..and all you people who could have so much to do in the big city of new york, are sitting on your computers commenting on my cousin's chest.
you have made this whole ordeal about ten times worse for me..because now not only do i have to figure out how to cope with my cousin never coming home to us, but also have to sit here and read this shit.
hope you guys are proud of yourselves.
thanks assholes.
I will take a shot at New Yorker's...you all that are commenting have no f*cking life and need to go find something else to do other then comment on ym cousin's chest and looks. I too will say that I would love to track your a** down and beat the living p*ss out of you. The fact of the matter is, much like my cousin said, "karma is a b*tch" and I hope you all go to hell for making unnecessary comments about my cousin. We are a grieving family and we see what you say...it makes me want to make a special trip out there myself. You are all as*holes and will be virgins for the rest of your life so just do everyone a favor and just stop breathing.
You people need to calm down and take a joke. No one here besides you people knew here to begin with. Everyday people die in sad ways - that's just how life is.
If these comments on a NY blog bother you then you have serious problems.
yeah well it will bother me because it's my f*cking cousin. You think it's just halarious when someone dies and you crack jokes on how "hot" they are. That's pathetic and down right rediculous, so it is you who needs to grow up.
Why not crack jokes? If you didn't know this is the INTERNET NOT REAL LIFE - get that straight. These are only words from complete strangers.
There were many tragedies in this sad sad situation.
1. The death of a very nice, thoughful, fun loving girl from northern MN. She touched so many lives here in northern MN, she made us laugh, she made us feel we were loved, she was a ray of sunshine in everyday, just seeing Jen made you smile. She was loved by her family, relatives and friends. She will be missed.
2. The NY City red tape is unbelievable. This beautiful girls family was put through a living hell from the bureaucratic bull$hit. The press seemed to know who she was, the NYPD seemed to know who she was, but the Medical Examiner's office didn't. (I wonder if the victim's families of the 911 disaster had the same problems, if they did I am so very sorry for their loved ones)
3. The Media, what can be said. I heard they called the family, day and night, regardless of the hour. The taunted, asked stupid questions like, "what are you feeling?" How do you think they feel? Why can't they wait until the grieving process is over? The media in this country is the cause for multiple copycat style tragedies. Look at Colombine, the recent mall shooting in Omaha, all of these had copycat style killings afterward. The media has no conscience, shame, or scruples. Only causing more grief and pain for the families and friends. Jen Chung and Dave Hagerty should be ashamed of themselves as well as the rest of the newspapers and news stations. You are heartless, inhumane and a poor excuse for a human beings. When mistakes are made and corrections are added, they are not on the front page like the first story where the lies are printed, no no no they are buried deep in the pages and in small print.
4. Blogs like this usually end up with a bunch of sicko's who can't find anyone to love them, so they are writing sick things about other people's loss's. It's really too bad the Gothamist can't moderate their own blog and weed out the sickos
I would not wish this tragedy on anyone. We will miss our Jen.
I am a person unknown to the victim, however I found this story to be terribly tragic, and I can only imagine the devastation suffered by those who knew her best. I think it is very sick, grotesque, disgusting, and any other word that defines such stupidity, to post misoginistic posts about her body, and to take this time to devalue a woman's worth. Karma is a bitch and those who had the nerve to say something as retarded as this is the internet, not real life, will feel the effects of a much deeper pain. It is retarded to say the internet is not REAL life, when this is a REAL WOMAN who passed, and obviously you are a REAL moron, commenting on a REAL incident and disregarding the REAL pain that comes with the love of a lost one. She was an attractive woman, but that should be a complement and not seen as a chance to objectify her. To the grieving family members and friends, I pray for you, wish you the best, and may her soul rest in peace.
Obviously you and other people don't understand the difference between saying something on the internet to complete strangers or saying it to their face in real life.
what is the difference please tell me.
go find some 15 year old girl to asl and try to cyber with her, which you were probably already doing, and stop commenting on my cousin.
she is none of your business, and i'd like to see you even try to say any of this shit to our faces.
Every time I think of you, I just wish I could turn back the clock, just to call you up, so that maybe today you could do the same.
RIP Jen
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! THAT GIRL IS DEAD AND ALL YOU TALK ABOUT IS "HOW NICE HER RACK IS!!" GOD WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU! YOU HAVE SOME SERIOUS FFFFFFFNNNN ISSUES! GOD DONT YOU HAVE ANY RESPECT! WOW GUYS CAN BE SOOO FRICKEN RUDE! GROW UP AND GET A LIFE!
