A-Rod Says He is Clean

2007_12_arod60minutes.jpgAlex Rodriguez went on 60 Minutes last night and firmly denied that he used steroids. When asked if he had ever used steroids, HGH or any other performance-enhancing drug A-Rod firmly stated “no” and then explained, "I've never felt overmatched on the baseball field. I've always been a very strong, dominant position. And I felt that if I did my work as I've done since I was, you know, a rookie back in Seattle, I didn't have a problem competing at any level. So, no.”

Rodriguez also revealed in the interview that he is not speaking with Scott Boras. Boras, who still made millions of dollars off of A-Rod’s latest contract, has some unique views on the difference between HGH and steroids users. Views that don’t seem rooted in fact. Jose Canseco previously hinted that A-Rod was using steroids and that information would come out in his book. He also said that he was surprised that Rodriguez didn't make George Mitchell's report to baseball.

Perhaps the spectacle of A-Rod defending himself on 60 Minutes will help the players to see how badly tarnished their images are and spur them to act to clean up the game. Then again, after all these years it seems unlikely that the players will suddenly start caring about their image.

Canseco doesn't like A-Rod. Of course he would say that. A Rod doesn't have the juicer's linebacker body with the rippling wall of muscle and the huge neck that juicers have. I don't necessarily buy it.

Also, A-Rod's head and neck just don't look large enough to be 'roid enhanced.

Also, if he is seeing some ladies on the side, he must not have the erectile dysfunction steroids cause. Heh.

Then again, after all these years it seems unlikely that the players will suddenly start caring about their image.

And why should they? Attendance keeps going up, salaries keep going up. Why change a good thing?

And sportswriters will always need to bitch about some athletes. There will always be some new scandal, new accusations and new innuendo. Gotta sell the newspapers somehow - so why change a good thing?

Have to say, that interview was the most sincere and real I've ever seen Alex be on television. I believe him... for now...

I guess "I did not use steroids" is the new "I am not gay."

With all the players named in the Mitchell Report how come A-Rod has to answer for it? Just because a numbskull like Jose Canseco said he would be in his next book?

the amount of size you put on is relative to your dose and type of steroids. Anybody can use a small dose and get increased muscle size and strength. Some old but safer and highly detectable steroids like deca reduce inflammation in the shoulders, deca may still be used overseas for inflammation
they work, they work very well, that is why they have been popular from high school up since the early 80's..
many guys and some women aren't satisfied with a smaller dose , they want to get bigger and stronger.
The managers, owners, trainers, scouts are all full of sh*t. They all knew it was going on and probably supplied or enable the juice connections.
betcha the publisher phones are ringing off the hook with people that have info they want to parlay into a book.

I say make the juice mandatory and exploit the freakshow that professional sports already are.

yeah tnturner. make all the high school kids juice so they can die of heartattacks and kill people with roid rage

sounds good to me, they don't call them Jock heads for nothing.
if rodriguez is using, then he's one of the few users who loves to go around shirtless.
unlike giambi who looks like he's sweatin buckets by the second inning.

ROIDRIGUEZ!!!

ROIDRIGUEZ!!!

They have been testing for Deca since like 2003 - it would have showed up.

Yes "babyhitler"-
Kill high school kids and let the survivors become cops and kill people via their "Roid Rage".

Thx for putting that more eloquently!
