Last Night's Action: A Much-Needed Win

Nets 105, Cavaliers 97: Maybe the Nets should wear their road uniforms at home more often. The Nets' last win before Friday came at Cleveland, but that was when the Cavs didn't have LeBron James. Cleveland had its star on the court at Izod Arena, but the Nets had theirs, too. Vince Carter had 32 -- tying a season high -- and James "settled" for 29. Josh Boone put in 15 for New Jersey, though he was the center of what YES announcer Ian Eagle called the "Butcher Boone" -- a la Hack a Shaq -- strategy. He went 2-for-4 from the line on those free throws. The win helped take some of the sting off a lawsuit filed by a model who said Jason Kidd groped her.

Bulls 101, Knicks 96: All those in attendance at Chicago's United Center got Big Macs, so at least the Knicks are making some fans happy. Just not their own. Zach Randolph -- acquired by Isiah Thomas, give the guy credit -- had 27 points and 15 rebounds. Unfortunately for the Knicks, Fred Jones put up the second-best line with 22. The rest of the team went 21-for-53 from the floor. They'll take on the Nets at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
