Last Night's Action: A Pair Of Wins

2006_12_sislanderslogo.jpg

  • Islanders 3 Phoenix 2: Bill Guerin had a big night scoring two goals in Phoenix’s first visit to Long Island in over five years. Guerin got the Islanders on the board jumping on a lose puck in the crease in the second period. Marc-Andre Bergeron made it to 2-0 New York and Guerin pounced on another rebound to give the Islanders their third goal.

Things got testy at the end of the game as Shane Doan took a swipe at the puck after Rick DiPietro had saved it and a scrum erupted behind the net. Doan took the worst of it penalty wise as he received a game misconduct.

  • Devils 3 Bruins 1: Boston got the brunt of this storm tonight keeping the crowd at the Fleet Center below 2,000 fans. The Devils jumped out on top when Brian Gionta scored midway through the second period with Jamie Langenbrunner following it shortly with a 5-on3 power-play goal four minutes later. Langenbrunner added an empty-net goal to complete the scoring.

It's no longer the Fleet Center, it's the TD Bank North Garden. :)

They FINALLY won a game, even if against lowly Phoenix. Hey, the Islanders have never had a great record against Gretzky in any capacity. I'll take it.

Good point Mhavden, when I lived there it was still the Fleet or "Fleece" Center as locals lovingly called it.
