Subway Beating Victim Will Press Charges

Rafael Cruz, whose beating on an A train at the hands - and feet - of a group of teenag girls was captured on video, will press charges with the police. Sources tell the Daily News that Cruz "filed a formal complaint with the NYPD Transit Bureau" last night.

As some people wondered if the video was fake, one man, Kevin Belvin, recognized his daughter Kierra Brown as one of the girls seen in the video and asked for the victim to speak out. Three days after the video surfaced, Cruz revealed that he was the man in the video seen trying to mind his own business, "I kept saying I was just waiting for my stop. I told them I didn't want to fight. Then for some reason they took a swing. I put my head down."

Belvin told the News, "If this leads her to being arrested, so be it. I'll be here for her. I'll be here through this if she wants me to." And Brown made a statement:

I was one of the young ladies in the film. I want to apologize for the embarrassment, for being on the news and being in the newspaper. I just want to let him [Cruz] know that I am not an animal. On a daily basis I don't really act like that at all...

...I would just like to say to him [Cruz], to sincerely apologize for the acts of violence...

Brown also confirmed that she didn't known the teen who filmed the incident, Kajdera Holmes. A lawyer for Holmes now says she's sorry she didn't help the victim.

seems you can't say anything anymore without offending someone. I think stereotypes are set in place because the majority of the time they are true. Just a personal observation.

I wouldn't even call these girls "girls". That's given them to much credit. Animals would be close to the right naming of them. Agree, animals do belong in cages or need to be put down. When girls don't act "lady like" that is when I see them as being manly therefore they get treated like men. That subway rider should have got up and just punch that shit out of all them, I think he didn't because they was girls, bullshit. They look like boys, acted like boys, and would have received a boy knock out punch from me.

I have a great laugh every time I replay that video. What kind of drunken schmuck argues with a bunch of children and then can't defend himself when he inadvertently offends them? But at least he can go to the police and get "justice," or whatever. If he'd been black and the kids white nobody would give a fuck and then we'd have parasites like Sharpton come around to try and get their faces in the paper. Maybe this should happen more often. It could perhaps do something about the white flight that's sped up so quickly since 2001...

at least the father is trying. hopefully, more videos of these incidents will pop up as I've seen this played a million times over in NYC. The more people are aware of this maybe they'll be more selfconscious and actually control themselves.
