Stalking Your Neighborhood Celeb 101
The New York Press is getting their Gawker Stalker on with their latest cover story about stalking Claire Danes...and how you, yes you, can also follow her home! All you need is the internet, a lot of free time and an obsession in which to fuel your fanboy/girl fire. The payoff? Well, for the author of the article, Becca Tucker, it was a cover story complete with creepy photo, headline and font.
Just close your eyes and point at a random part of this article and you'll likely come up with something that reads like it was ripped from a Brett Easton Ellis novel. Ahem, "She has no idea—yet—that I know where she lives and where she goes for coffee, certainly neither she nor her bodyguards have the slightest inkling that I’ll be waiting for her there."
The article is also peppered with references to David Ajemian (the Conan O'Brien stalker), the history of stalking itself and a timeline of famous homicidal stalking incidents -- so it's pretty amazing that Tucker then goes on to give an instructional on how to find Danes any day of the week. Gawker suggests the actress embrace her stalk-worthy title, after ICM chairman Jeff Berg (who represents her) stated the article put her "into the gunsights" and (rightfully) got "hostile" with NY Press editor David Blum.

Ok, I'll do it.
"The New York Press is getting it's Gawker Stalker?"
its. simple rule. if you cannot say it is, then there is no '
i love claire danes & when i stumbled upon this article i was furious that she gave step-by-step instructions on how to find her. it's fucked up. the instructions were not necessary. totally irresponsible.
Hugh: gothamist and copy-editing never meet.
I feel like I've read countless celebrity interviews where stars say the move to NYC so they can be left alone.
feminists aren't happy about this either. who wants to stalk becca?
(will u grammar nazi's either go teach 3rd grade or STFU & GBTW)
for the most part, celebrities are left alone.
but what's with the NYPD having a car parked outside the theatre? if she could afford and has bodyguards then the NYPD need not be there, unless......
The writer is retarded. All of NYC property records are online, just google ACRIS, and search for 'Claire Danes', and you'll get her address. She ain't that rich...the apartment is mortgaged!

Cool, it works!
wow. that's some crazy info you can find. she had a $975k mortgage.
If you're rich, it might be more financially prudent to have a mortgage. This way all that money isn't tied up into a home and can be used to accumulate interest/income/etc. Obviously only a good accountant and investment manager would know best. Generally I'm led to believe that even if you had the cash to out and out buy a place, it would be smarter to invest it elsewhere.
