Last Night's Action: How Much More Can We Take?

  • Philadelphia 105 Knicks 77: On Tuesday, the Sixers fired their GM and President. On Wednesday, they lost to Boston, a team that is currently 17-2. On Friday and Saturday they swept a home-and-home against the Knicks, a team that desperately needs to start over again.

It’s time Jim Dolan, if you even care anymore. It’s time Isiah Thomas, if you care about anything beyond your current job. Long ago the Garden was a magical place where Reed, Frazier, Bradley and Monroe won championships. Ewing, Oakley, Johnson and Starks fell short, but they brought a passion to the place that is sorely missing. This current collection of Knicks is short on heart and pride while long on paychecks. No wonder the fans have simply tuned them out.

  • Islanders 3 Tampa Bay 2 (Overtime): Mike Sillinger ripped a beautiful wrist shot with 30 second remaining in overtime to propel the Islanders to their first win in six games.

What are you talking about? It was time to let go of Isiah 2 years ago. Obviously, either Isiah has some superdirt on Dolan like pics of him with little boys or Dolan is arrogant fool who likes to antagonize his constituency. Maybe both are true. Dolan has a license to print money as even with the Knicks being a laughingstock, being the only game in town they still make money from filling the arena. Real Basketball fans, much less Knicks fans would have realized they were getting bamboozled out of their money to go see the Knicks basketball monopoly. Obviously, the IBankers who fill the courtside seats will still go to the games just for the prestige factor. And the nosebleed seats are going for 20 bucks now, so there is a reason they are filled. it's the middle seat guys that confuse me. Why the hell would you pay 100-200 bucks a ticket to watch garbage? The Knicks have a whole decade of futility to go with their prior 3 now that Dolan/Thomas have raped the living shit out of the team. Brooklyn Nets have never looked so good.

The Dolan family wants to take Cablevision private by buying out public investors. By turning the Knicks into the laughingstock of the league, they're hoping to depress the value of the franchise so much that outside investors will finally throw up their hands and say "Fine! Take the team, take the business!"
