Last night, the Nets lost a rare game to their cross-river rival in which both teams were without key players. Normally, the story would be Marbury missing the game to grieve his father's death and Curry embarrassingly spraining his ankle during a walkthrough, but instead, the Nets troubles were the talk of the town this morning.

Jason Kidd missed the game last night due to what he said were migraines, but several people at the Nets stated anonymously that Kidd sat out the game in protest of the Nets rejecting his request for a contract extension. Coach Lawrence Frank confirmed only that Kidd contacted him at 2pm complaining of a Migraine and that never showed up at the Izod center for the game. If Kidd's point was to prove how valuable he is to the team, it was well taken. According to the Daily News, the Nets were 20-4 against the Knicks during the Kidd era before last night, and could clearly not contain a struggling and shorthanded Knicks team without him.

May we be the first to suggest a Kidd for Marbury trade? Again? Doesn’t it sound like both players could really use a change of scenery at this point? Kidd, despite his age, would the perfect playmaker to extract the potential of the often inconsistent Knicks scorers. Not to mention a shakeup would get some positive energy at the Garden. Marbury would probably be better off spending the rest of his contract a step out of the spotlight anyway, but it's clear he can still perform when focused. If both teams continue to disappoint this season, and with each of their contracts expiring after next year, it might not be such a far-fetched idea…
