Above are Oliver, Scout, and Simon Little, three Brooklyn siblings currently without a home. Fortunately, they have a kind neighbor who leaves them food and water and has some outdoor housing in her backyard. The other day she found Simon on her windowsill, caught out in the rain and looking forlorn. With the arrival of winter and snowstorms, these cats need a home.
We spoke to their human friend (who would love to take them in but already has three cats):
A little more info: they look to be about 6-7 months old, so they're still not full grown cats. The boys are EXTREMELY affectionate and love to be scratched and petted; their sister Scout was more tentative at first and is still a little bit skittish, but she has come around really nicely this past week and is also really enjoying the petting now. They've got really nice personalities and I think they're going to make someone awesome pets. They also all get along really well with the older cats who frequent the yard (Hoople and Funny Face, who we suspect is their mama), so they'd probably do well in a house with existing cats.If you think you can help out the Littles or would like to learn more about them, please contact us at info(at)gothamist(dot)com. They were completely freaked out by the snow this morning, and though we still have the little kitty condos we built out back, they do seem to head off elsewhere after eating and hanging out for a bit. It would be great to place them before we get much further into winter and the really bad weather.

A cat sob story? Really?
poor lil guys, wish I could take care of them
in my old building, the strays hung out in the courtyard where the older residents look after them,
when it gets cold, they sneak into the basement and
it's subterranean labyrinths.
The city is full of hopelessly single women who find cats suitable substitutes for human companionship. I'm sure they'll find nice homes.
Don't you mean the city is full of single women whom you can never hope to get and who find cats more than suitable substitutes for your companionship?
Such cuties. I've been trying to find a home for a ten-year old cat but it's not been successful. Poor girl will probably have to go to an adoption center, if we can get her into one. So sad, kitties without a home.
Yes, it is a kittie sob story and I am not ashamed. I hope they find a home.
chinatown.
jimmylegs has been taking care of strays in bushwick who need homes asap too.
he has about a million billion cute/sad pics of them: http://jimmylegs.com/
it's a city-wide epidemic.
Thanks, Gothamist, for posting about the Littles. They're great kitties and my husband and I would love to find them homes for the holidays (and beyond).
This is the second batch of kittens this year we are trying to get adopted (some of you may remember the Bushwick Teenies from over the summer, who we were able to place; we adopted their mama ourselves). Miss Mess is right, it is a city-wide epidemic, and it's heartbreaking. If you or someone you know can help, please drop me a line via the email address above.
Are they fixed?
They have not been spayed or neutered yet. We'd love to be able to take them to the ASPCA's low-cost spay/neuter van, but we don't have the space to hold them prior to that nor do we have recovery space for them.
