2007_11_food_davemartin.jpgCrave on 42nd: Top Chef Season One's Dave "I'm not your bitch, bitch!" Martin has found a home in New York serving comfort-driven American bistro fare. He reprises one of his Top Chef dishes -- the Black Truffle Mac ‘n’ Cheese, with black truffles, brandy and fontina slow cooked with fresh thyme and oregano, and the menu offers wood grilled pizzas, burgers, and hearty entrees, like "Sassy Sea Bass," farm raised bass, dry rubbed and pan roasted then finished with an adobo honey butter, served with toasted coconut couscous and roasted veggies. 650 West 42nd Street, near 12th Avenue, 212.564.9588.

Steak Frites: Moving from his original location in Union Square, Andrew Silverman adds a touch of American steakhouse to the classic french menu For $19.50, they offer a grass-fed strip steak special topped with smoked morel mushroom and shallot sauce, and served with salad and a side of fries. 225 Varick Street at Clarkson Street, 212-463-7101.

Park Avenue Winter: Park Avenue Autumn (formerly Park Avenue Summer) has had its seasonal makeover and emerged in icy white and silver. Chef Craig Koketsu has revised the menu to highlight the season, featuring heartier fare, like venison tartare, roast chicken “coq au vin,” roasted filet mignon with braised short rib and root vegetables, and, just in time for Chanukah, potato latkes. Pastry chef Richard Leach warms up to winter with additions including warm walnut gingerbread with apple puree, and hot brown buttered bum with pecan biscotti. 100 East 63rd Street, 212-644-1900
