  • Islanders 3 Ottawa 2 (Shootout): The Islanders got a huge victory Wednesday night thanks to some great goaltending from Rick DiPietro. DiPietro made 35 saves during the game and an additional 5 in the shootout to propel New York to victory.

Ottawa came back from a 2-1 deficit in the third with a goal with under two minutes remaining in the game. Both teams had power plays in overtime, but were unable to convert and the game went to a shootout. Daniel Alfredsson scored on Ottawa’s first attempt and the Islanders missed on their first two attempts. Facing a loss, Billy Guerin brought the Islanders back with a goal and after Danny Heatley missed, the shootout went to extra shooters. Mike Sillinger, who had scored in regulation, got a goal in the sixth round of the shootout and when Ottawa missed, the Islanders had a well-deserved win.

  • New Jersey 4 Dallas 2: The Stars won’t go home with a sweep of the local teams thanks to a big comeback from the Devils. Down 2-0, New Jersey scored two goals in the second and two in the third to charge to victory.

Finally!!! A win, at home, against Ottawa. We haven't done that since before the lockout....we just can never figure them out.
