The item about the young man and the tree branch in Riverside Park brings back some memories, rather scary memories at that. About 15 years ago I was walking in a nature preserve in Connecticut when I heard a loud "thunk." A sizable branch had fallen off an oak tree and landed about ten feet behind me. If I'd been walking just a little bit more slowly I would've been right in its trajectory. Given its size, and the distance from which it fell (the broken part was clearly visible on the tree), it wasn't a potentially skull-fracturing situation, but it was a potentially knocked-senseless-with-a-gash-on-the-head situation.

Peter, that's worse than getting hit by a pigeon! Don't tell any politician your story please!
