Last Night's Action: Second-Half Wakeup Call

  • Grizzlies 110, Nets 103: For whatever reason, the Nets don't do well at home after long road trips. Tuesday's loss was the fourth straight in the first game following a trip of three or more games. Everyone knows the Izod Center isn't the best home court, but the Nets need to do better than 3-6 at home. If the Nets played the entire game like they performed in the second half, they wouldn't be hanging their heads. But they let the Grizzlies, losers of five straight, dominate for 24 minutes. The Nets have sunk to below .500 again, and they'll have plenty of time to think about it. They don't play again until Saturday night.

The good news? Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter appear to be able to score together. In Carter's absence with an injury, Jefferson took over and had a monster stretch. Carter has eased himself back in and ended up dropping 32 points Tuesday, but Jefferson had 27 of his own. If they can coexist, things will get better quickly.
