MOVIE: BAM pays homage to the late Barbara Stanwyck tonight with a screening of Forbidden. The 1932 Frank Capra-directed film (which tells the tale of a librarian who has fallen for an unobtainable/married man) was supposedly influenced by his real-life affair with the leading lady. Critic and historian Elliott Stein will discuss the film after the 6:50 screening.

THEATER: Iris Bahr lived in Israel before moving to The Bronx at age 12; her experiences in Tel Aviv formed the springboard for a chilling one-woman show called Dai (enough), which is back in New York for a return engagement after a successful run at The Culture Project. Her story invites the audience inside a busy metropolitan café where, soon or later, a suicide bomber will obliterate everything inside. In a versatile performance that was nominated for a Drama Desk award, Bahr portrays a colorful cross-section of people one might find taking advantage of Israel these days, such as an Israeli expatriate living in New York, a Russian prostitute, a gay German, a Palestinian professor, an elderly former general, a West Bank settler from Queens, an evangelical Christian and a rave kid promoting a "party for peace.” – John Del Signore

6:30pm // 47th Street Theatre [304 W 47th St] // Tickets cost $65

Okay, fine, they're all look-a-likes, and the book is called Come pick up a copy at the book launch, where the real Alison Jackson will be on hand to sign copies.

7 to 9pm // Taschen New York [107 Greene St] // Free

FOOD: Cook's Country magazine recently held a contest for their latest cookbook, America's Best Lost Recipes, which features heirloom recipes. MUSIC: Maritime, The One AM Radio and Statehood take the Merc stage tonight. The former is comprised of old Promise Ring singer Davey Von Bohlen and used to include the bassist for The Dismemberment Plan, Eric Axelson. However, now Statehood features "former Dismemberment Plan/ex-Maritime bassist Eric Axelson and former Dismemberment Plan drummer/actual rocket scientist Joe Easley" -- confused yet?
