DJ Star Falls Back to Radio Airwave Orbits

DJ Star, who was fired from Power 105 after some remarks about a rival's child, will be coming back to radio stations. While publicists for the DJ, born Troi Torain, would not disclose where he'll be headed (not before tomorrow press conference, at least), the Daily News reports that it will probably be WNYZ, which is 87.7FM: "Its current format is Russian popular music, but with the hiring of Star, it will reportedly switch to top-40."

Last year, DJ Star was fired after taunting Hot 97's DJ Envy by calling Envy's half-Asian wife a "lo-mein eater" and offering listeners $500 to tell him where Envy's 4-year-old daughter attends school, "If you didn't hear me, I said I would like to do an R. Kelly on your seed. On your little baby girl." The remarks also led to his arrest on charges of child endangerment.

Queens City Council member John Liu was vocal in criticizing Star, saying the shock jock should be "terminated from the face of the earth." He was so vocal that Star filed a $55 million defamation lawsuit against Liu. At the time, Liu said, “He's still a loser pedophile radio stooge," and a judge eventually dismissed the suit. When apprised of Star's new job, Liu told the AP, "He's been unemployed for 18 months. I imagine that he's learned his lesson and there will be no recidivist behavior."

Star will be co-hosting a morning show with half brother Buc Wild (real name, Timothy Joseph). Star also sued Clear Channel for firing him; that case is still in the courts.
