- Time to dress up and play "I have my own food television show!" If you've ever thought you had it in you, now's the time. Epicurious.com is hosting a contest for the best video on holiday food and entertaining. Submit your entry by January 2, 2008 and have a chance to win prizes including Michael Chiarello cookware and Epicurious.com editors' favorite cookbooks. And if you're quick about it, the first 25 people to submit videos will receive a free TasteBook personalized cookbook.
- Yes, it's already time to start thinking about holiday shopping (Chanukah starts wicked early this year). Give your out of town relatives a taste of the Big Apple with some of Ed Levine's picks for New York food gifts, like bialys from Kossars, pictured at right, although they'll probably think they're just deformed bagels.
- And speaking of out-of-towners, word from the Times is that Charlie Trotter is trotting on over to give it a go in New York at One Madison Park. We're looking forward to seeing you!
- The City Cook brings us comforty-warm-and-tasty goodness on a crummy post-Thanksgiving Monday in the form of short ribs.
- "Short ribs?! Shouldn't I be eating my Thanksgiving leftovers?" No, according to Slate. Give up on the leftover turkey already.

Got a tidbit for us? Send it to the feedbag.

Bialys can be so much better than Bagels...and they are in no way deformed...
Chanukah doesn't start early this year. It starts the same day it starts every year: the 25th day of Kislev. It's the Gregorian calendar that makes it look early.
