Sex and the City-Mania!

200711satc.jpg

Have you seen Sex and the City filming around town? Seems like some people are watching the cast of the 'ol show film the new movie every step of the way. The Times chronicled the madness and, OMG, talked to Carrie Bradshaw herself (who was hiding away in the basement of the Bryant Park Hotel). She had this to say of her on-the-job craziness: “I basically just look down between every take because it’s too hard if you look up and you see the perimeter is madness.”

The paper also dropped some details about the movie -- spoiler alert!? Samantha now lives in LA! And Carrie is "making a serious attempt at making grown-up decisions about love and about life choices" -- probably not a bad idea for an engaged 40-year old. As for the rest of us, we'll be able to exhale when the movie finally hits the big screen in May of 2008. We wonder what sort of elaborate ad campaign we'll be seeing around the city that has long forgot about Carrie & Co.

SJP looks like the Bride Of Frankenstein

Is SJP Jewish? That would explain her career...

or rather, she "fits" the part...

I like SJP, but I think it would also be cool if she got jilted at the altar and turned into a sort of 21st Century Miss Havisham––writing totally f'd up advice columns on love and sex designed to slowly and deliberately torture and ruin others' love lives.

This is not a show that anyone born here would watch. It's a show for midwest transplants who probably moved here because of dumb shit like this taking away anything cultural about NY and turning it into one big mindless shopping mall like the rest of america.

On Saturday I happened to be walking down Perry street and walked right into a full-on LINE of tourists waiting to take their pictures individually in front of the brownstone from Sex And The City. It's bad enough that they wait in line for cupcakes at Magnolia, but now to take their picture in front of a random home? WTF? The people who live there must be miserable.

I was born and raised in Manhattan and I watch the show. I find it partially ridiculous and unrealistic, especially since none of them ended up with some horrid STI. Though, I do enjoy the show, it's for entertainment value and if anyone is dumb enough to think that they can live in a large brownstone on the upper east side off of a columnists salary needs a reality check or stay on their farm.
