Last Night's Action: A Busy Thanksgiving Eve
- Rangers 2 Tampa 1: New York got back on track quickly, coming out in the first period with intensity and jumping to a 1-0 lead thanks to Fedor Tyutin. Henrik Lundqvist wss his usually brilliant self, making 32 saves including several huge ones while the Rangers clung to a one-goal lead.
It wasn’t until Colton Orr hit a knuckleball off the stick of a Lightning defenseman at 2:05 of the third period, that the Rangers finally had some breathing room. They needed it as an apparent Lightning goal was disallowed and Tampa did finally score with 30 seconds left. On a down note, Sean Avery left the game after getting hit in the hand with the puck. There was no word on his status, but the Rangers can’t afford to lose him.
- Detroit 98 Knicks 86: Consider this nauseating fact. Since Jim Dolan decided to extend Isiah Thomas’ contract the Knicks have gone 6-24. That .200 winning percentage includes Wednesday’s game where the Knicks actually played with some effort, but still lost. The Detroit crowd gave Isiah a warm round of applause, would they like to trade him for Joe Dumars
- Devils 2 Pittsburgh 1: Zach Parise had two power-play goals and Martin Brodeur made 27 saves as the Devils got the win in Pittsburgh.
- Montreal 4 Islanders 1: The Islanders had a bad second period, surrendering three goals to Montreal that made a 1-0 game 4-0 and the Canadiens cruised to an easy win on the island.
- Nets 106 Portland 101: Richard Jefferson had 30 points and Jason Kidd had a triple-double as the Nets rallied in the fourth quarter for the win.
