Officials Move to Keep Boobs Covered at Gate D
D is for drunk and disorderly, not boobs and breasts. At least according to New Jersey State Senator Richard Codey. The Times first reported yesterday on the halftime events at Gate D at Giants Stadium during Jets games. Hundreds of fans gather on the exit ramp, chanting at women and encouraging them to expose their breasts. If they don't lift their shirts, the women are met with boos and sometimes are spit at or have bottles thrown at them.
Fans The Times talked to said the ritual at Gate D has been happening for years and that they're disappointed when women don't expose themselves, because flashing is expected of the women. Possibly more alarming than the actions of the men at the stadium is the inaction of stadium security. One guard said they don't do anything because of free speech laws.
Since first reported yesterday, Senator Codey has taken the Meadolands to task, saying that they "appear to have turned a blind eye." Naturally, the Meadolands disputes these claims, saying they have great security and that nothing can be done, besides reasoning, to stop men from chanting obscenities.
The fan behavior at Gate D doesn't seem to happen at other gates, during Giants games, or at other NFL stadiums. Only at Jets games. Perhaps Jets fans are confused because they're used to New York laws allowing women to go topless?

minorities can't get a break. when blacks and latinos did this to passing women at that legendary Puerto Rican day paradae years bsack they got arrested and had the city in an uproar. when white guys with bad taste in sports teams do it they have an area in the stadium partioned off for them where white girls with eating disorders and/or low-self esteem take their Walmart tops off. I guess looking at cruty nipples help the men forget that their team sucks as does their performance in the bedroom.

No, in fact this is FAR from what they did at the PR parade, where they actually forcibly stripped women of their clothing right on Fifth Avenue as the police idled nearby.
i think both both instances (parade, jets game)are disgraceful and an abomination to women, esp those that oblige. the comment was meant to be sarcastic which I'm realizing is really hard to illustrate in words. either way, no empathy was meant for the offenders at the parade, obviously.

To say nothing can be done is bullshit. "What are we supposed to do, arrest everybody?" Yes, arrest everybody. Or stop serving alcohol at the stadium.
I agree. But wait til there's a Monday or Sunday Night game, then arrest as many as they can. Make it a spectacle for national tv. Embarrass the hell out of the stadium security, make that security company shell out for the cops' overtime pay, thats the only way this will stop.
"Free speech?" Damn rent-a-cops. It's harassment and if someone throws something, that's assault. They're full of it. They're just silently complicit and want to see the women who expose themselves.

It's actually easy to clean up the crowds at football games. The crowds at Patriots games used to behave terribly and Bob Kraft cracked down on it. He had survelliance cameras (before belichick arrived - I'll make the jokes first) installed and began revoking the season tickets of offenders.
The free speech excuse is BS. The guard in question was probably just hoping to see some boobies, too. The team would be justified in kicking the offenders out.

i know right? i mean, i remember when you had the guys doing that very thing to you and you handled it damn well. you had like 20 guys throwing like 7, 8 nickels at a time wanting to see your man-boobs. you were nothing but a pro, handled the situation with utmost class, lifting up your shirt, twirling the hair around your left nipple and grabbing the face of closest jock for a session of motorboat. people need to learn how to cope!
