NY1 Reporter Canned After Crank Call to "The Call"

2007_11_garamsay.jpgWhat a bad idea: NY1 reporter Gary Anthony Ramsay apparently made a crank call to his station's live call-in program, "The Call," and now he's fired. The Daily News reports that Ramsay's crank call revealed his opinions about former police commissioner Bernard Kerik.

A NY1 spokesperson told the News that the journalist who logged 15 years at the cable station "left New York 1 to pursue other options," but NY1 sources "said Ramsay committed journalistic suicide" with the crank call, where he said he was "Dalton, from the upper East SIde." The Daily News doesn't explain what "Dalton"'s views were, so if anyone was watching, let us know!

Ramsay's contract was supposedly up anyway, but had been expected to continue at NY1 through the end of the year. Last year, a former NY1 reporter accused Ramsay, amongst other NY1 staffers, of sexual harassment; Adele Sammarco alleged Ramsay "attacked" her and stuck his tongue down her throat after a party. His bio has been removed from the NY1 website, but you can see a cached version here.

dude, what did he actually say? we need the video!

Is your refrigerator running?

That is so totally bizarre. Sounds like all four personal wheels came off.

Now, if we can only get rid of those Sleepy's commercials (and that dental commercial, and travels with Val and annoying Delia, while we're at it), I can again watch Annika Pergament in peace.

Wonder if anyone else will be let go?

The page from Nov. 14th has 36 reporters listed, Today only has 9!

The sexual harassment thing is interesting because when I worked at NY1 he would stare at my chest if we passed in the studio. However, I will miss my afternoon anchor.

now he can be replaced with another reporter from Staten Island.

famdoc: you forgot that lisping idiot Neil Rosen (a pompous ass in real life, BTW) and the supremely irritating Shelly Goldberg (worst hair on all of television).

But yeah, the Sleepy's commercials really have to go, as do the "Sex & the City" ripoff Karmel commercials.

Can you be sued for sexual harrassment for staring at a woman's chest...?

shelley goldberg's hair may be a wig if she is one of them ultra orthodox observers.

If she was ultra orthodox, she wouldn't have a job, she'd be making and taking car of babies.

I swear, anyone who talks badly about the Select Dental commercial does so under risk of injury.

Ask yourself, has it been a while since you've been to the emergency room? I should have done it years ago.
