Derek Jeter's mom is claiming that her son wouldn't cheat on his taxes, days after the NY State Dept. of Taxation and Finance claimed that the Yankees captain owed the state hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars in back taxes. Jeter says that his primary residence is in Florida, which doesn't have a state income tax. He does, however, live in the Trump World Plaza building on 1st Ave., across from the United Nations. His mom railed against the media for giving her boy such a hard time, asking if they had children and saying how hard it was to hear her son described as a tax evader. "You're going to give me a heart attack."
"My boy does everything right - everything right," she said at her New Jersey home. "He's paid taxes in New York for every doggone day he's been there."The New York Times describes how tax auditors determine whether people are being truthful about where they live when filing their taxes. It's an inexact science; "But the auditor can make an educated guess." A salient clue in the Jeter case may have been that he's the shortstop for the New York Yankees.
With so much money on the line, tax professionals think that Jeter can expect a thorough vetting. ""New York goes after everything. Phone bills, credit cards bills, E-ZPass, you name it, they go after it," said one such expert quoted in the New York Post. State officials will apparently comb through every detail of Jeter's life to determine where exactly he's been spending his time.

No matter how the New York State Tax auditors look at this case, one thing is very obvious. Derek did not get his looks from his mother.
Jeters mom?
are you kidding me?
"A salient clue in the Jeter case may have been that he's the shortstop for the New York Yankees."
Not really at all. Almost every Yankee has a residence in the New York metropolitan area for the season, but spends the rest of the year at their other residence (in Florida, Puerto Rico, wherever). That "clue" doesn't really work at all.
Florida hey, is that where Jeter is from? No. Is that where Rosie O Donne is from? No. So what’s with Florida that the rest of us tax paying suckers don't get? Oh yea, no state or local income tax! I'd like to see one of our “brave” NYC journalists investigate just how many of these big time moneymaking celeb's are "New Yorkers" in all but tax payments. Lets see who else besides Jeter is skirting the funds needed to pay first responders, teachers and the rest of NYC government. Especially the political loudmouths who raise self-righteous hell in support of big government. So whats it gonna be? Does our sexiest man alive Matt Damon, who’s mega Soho loft is the envy of all us long time tax paying New Yorkers, does he list NYC his main hood? Or is he, like many of his hypocritical brethren, a Floridian?
