HEADS UP!: We love Daniel Kitson, it's been documented, so we wanted to give you a heads up that our favorite British comedian is coming back to the States! He has three shows in December at Union Hall (the 2nd, 3rd and 4th), and tickets are ON SALE NOW for two of those dates. It'll be the best $8+fees that you ever spent.

200711hanselgretel.jpgART: The Brothers Grimm fairytale Hansel and Gretel has taken over the Metropolitan Opera House. The new exhibit includes original art by 17 artists inspired by the tale. The collaboration between the Metropolitan Opera and The New Yorker is inspired by the Met's holiday presentation of Humperdinck's operatic version of Hansel and Gretel. MOVIE: Earlier this week charges were dropped against Reverend Billy, and today his movie comes out! Looks like everything's comin' up Billy. Catch the film, titled What Would Jesus Buy?, at its New York City premiere tonight! More details here.

THEATER: In his acerbic plays, MacArthur Fellow and Pulitzer Prize nominee Ishmael Reed has made a mark by satirizing right-wing whiteys and shedding light on how the inner city stays inner. His black comedy Body Parts is being sewn together at the Nuyorican Poets Café; according to Alexis Soloski it “concerns a pharmaceutical corporation desperate to cover up its drug tests on indigent African-Americans. The corporation also channels money to the Tough Love Institute, a black neocon think tank. Politics, race, sex, medicine, academia, outsourcing – Reed leaves few targets unhit.’ Show up early for pre-show banana pudding! – John Del Signore

MUSIC: Marissa Nadler and her haunting voice will be at the Whitney tonight. The songstress will be belting out her modern folk tunes as part of the Whitney Live series. Listen here.

200711kiku.jpgFLOWERS: Get outside before ice and snow are covering the streets, and head over to the Bronx Botanical Garden. Take a tour of Kiku, a traditional Japanese art involving meticulously cultivated chrysanthemums. This is being touted as "the most elaborate flower show and cultural exhibition ever presented by the Garden in its 116-year history." You can also expect demonstrations, dance and other performances.

Saturday // 10am to 6pm // New York Botanical Garden, Bronx River Parkway at Fordham Rd // $18

THEATER: DUMBO’s roomy bookstore/performance loft Powerhouse Arena plays host to Dumbolio, the monthly variety show curated by Ed Schmidt, who made a stir a few years back with The Last Supper, a humorous one-man theatrical cooking show performed in his Windsor Terrace apartment. This month’s Dumbolio, “The Body Parts Edition.” boasts six acts, each one focused on one body part. Corey Dargel, who recently wrote and performed in the musical comedy Removable Parts, about voluntary amputation, will represent the arms with songs from the show. Ribald singer/guitarist Jessica Delfino covers the genitals, Scott Korb does the face, Lisa Levy psychoanalyzes the crowds’ brains, Josh Max warms the heart, and hacky-sack performance troupe The New York Footbag All-Stars worships the feet. – John Del Signore

COMEDY: SNL is taking over UCB for an off-air episode this weekend, and TONY is following suit by giving "comedy writers affected by the WGA strike a creative outlet while they're out of work and audience members and television fans an opportunity to show their support." This Sunday catch Rich Blomquist and Sam Means (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live) and comedian Kurt Metzger.

Sunday // 7:30pm // Crash Mansion [199 Bowery] // $8

Whatever you do, don't let your inner-nerd go unfulfilled -- this weekend is the Big Apple Con! Go, geek out and maybe meet Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Bell.
