  • Rangers 4 Philadelphia 3 (Shootout): The Rangers have overcome their slow start and moved into a tie for first place. Brendan Shanahan had a goal in regulation and the game-winner in the shootout to power New York. Henrik Lundqvist kept the Flyers off the board in the shootout, stopping all three shots he faced.

    Marc Staal played another solid game paired with Rozsival and Marek Malik has to be worried about regaining his starting spot. Scott Gomez continued his hot play of late with two assists while finishing +2 and Sean Avery only had two penalty minutes while registering a +2.

  • Pittsburgh 3 Islanders 2: The offensive force that is George Laraque scored the game-winner near the end of the third period and Marc-Andre Fleury withstood an Islander blitz in the third period to make it hold up.
  • New York is on the verge of landing a big free agent: Were you expecting a different name?

What? No mention of Derek Jeter accused of avoiding NY State taxes?

Of course, if it was A-Rod, or Barry Bonds, accused of the same, you could imagine the outrage from sports fans. But lillywhite Derek is untouchable, n'est-pas?
