THEATER: Brooklyn noise-rock band Japanther pounces on P.S. 122 tonight through Tuesday as part of Performa 07, the city-wide biennial focused on performance by international visual artists. Tonight’s show, called Dinosaur Death Dance, Japanther in 3-D, is a comical art-rock-theater hybrid that takes place on a set designed by conceptual artist Dan Graham. A large optical glass wall is situated next to a circular stage where the duo provides musical accompaniment to dancers Sonya Robbins, Layla Childs and spoken word artist Penny Rimbaud, co-founder of anarchist punk band Crass. The 45-minute “ceremony” is interspersed with commercials advertising “the sunny plight of the American Indian and an advocate arresting those who feed the homeless.” Also, an animatronic robot dinosaur. – John Del Signore

9pm & 11pm // P.S. 122 [150 First Ave @ E 9th St] // Tickets cost $20

COMEDY: The Dave Hill Explosion drops into UCB tonight. This is "the show that critics are already calling the most incredible thing that has ever happened in North America." Dave will talk, read, sing, dance and show some short films. We suggest you go, enjoy, and stay in the venue til Saturday.
