THEATER: With his 1958 play The Zoo Story, Edward Albee pounced to the center of the American theatrical universe with a single, defiant bound – and he’s never strayed far from it since. His work has often challenged and perplexed critics and audiences alike, but when his best plays resonate with the right actors, the effect is absolutely devastating. Bill Pullman is one of those actors; having created the part of Martin in Albee’s 2002 success The Goat or Who Is Sylvia?, he’s back in the role of Peter, the uptight Eisenhower era Manhattanite who refuses to fight Jerry, an unhinged stranger who won’t leave him alone, for possession of a park bench. The one-act is now paired with Homelife, a companion piece Albee wrote six years ago, which delves into Peter’s previously untold domestic situation. The Times review calls the production a “beautifully acted double bill” and on Sunday featured an in-depth profile on Albee. – John Del Signore

I saw Jesus Camp when it first ran over the summer - a great, compelling film. Possibly upsetting, if you're of an atheistic persuasion (or against the emotional manipulation of young children), but great nonetheless.

Pentecostal. Not Pentacostal.

Jesus Camp also features an interview with pre-scandal Ted Haggard. The filmmakers said that he was the only person involved with the film who didn't want it released; everyone else involved is happy with how they're portrayed.

Dave Hill Explosion is playing on Thursday at UCB.

I found Jesus Camp to be tedious and heavy handed. (I'm an atheist, if that matters.) It was so overboard with the scare tactics that it was downright silly at times. We don't need the stark angles and the spooky haunted-house music to know that the lady brainwashing kids is a bad person.

For a much more even handed view of America's Christian right, check out Friends of God: A Road Trip with Alexandra Pelosi. It also features a hilarious encounter with Ted Haggard before his fall from grace.
