Shootings and Stabbings Leave Three Dead

2007_11_policeline.jpgThree separate clashes in Brooklyn and Manhattan left three men dead and two people wounded. The first occurred late Friday night, when a 51-year-old Harlem resident was shot in his apartment building at 353 West 115th Street. Willie Woods, who the Post reports was a "parolee who served time on drug charges" but managed to stay out of trouble and work as a janitor for his building and others in he neighborhood, was shot in the face around 10:45PM. A 39-year-old woman was also shot, and they were both taken to St. Lukes, where Woods was pronounced dead and she remains in critical condition.

Around 5AM yesterday morning, two men were shot outside La Bonita Bakery on Grand Street in Williamsburg. The bakery's employees said that the two men had just finished a meal before they were shot. The NY Times reports that the men came back in: The 34-year-old man "collapsed to the floor at the front of the restaurant" while the 28-year-old "tried to take a knife but was stopped by an employee." The 34-year-old victim died, the other victim is in stable condition. Some believe the shooting may have been prompted by an earlier bar fight.

And a 25-year-old man was fatally stabbed by his son's mother in Prospect Lefferts Garden last night. The pair were arguing and the woman claimed that Thomas Adonis was choking her, so she stabbed him with a kitchen knife in self-defense. The Daily News says that charges are pending.
