Last Night's Action: A Garden Shootout

  • Rangers 2, Devils 1 (SO): Petr Prucha did enough to finally earn a second "E" for his name. He set up the only goal in regulation and scored the only goal in the shootout. Scott Gomez struck against his former club. The Rangers had other chances, including Chris Drury's breakaway in overtime, so this win helped them sleep better at night.

  • Islands 3, Penguins 2: This could have been a Pyhrric victory. Rick DiPietro got sticked by Sidney Crosby, ruining Coach Al Arbour's return to the Islanders' bench.

  • Nets 93, 76ers 88: Still smarting from an off-night against the Raptors, Jason Kidd put up his 50th triple double with the Nets en route to New Jersey's second win in three games this season. With the performances of the Big Three, it's easy to miss people like Bostjan Nachbar, who had two critical threes down the stretch.

  • Revolution 1, Red Bulls 0: If this weren't soccer, maybe the rivalry between the two clubs would be more celebrated. It is a one-sided one, however. The "Revs" haven't lost to either the Red Bulls or the MetroStars in 10 games. With one quick strike in the 64th minute, New England ended the Red Bulls' season. This was the second game of a two-leg playoff between the two clubs. All Bruce Arena's team needed was a draw in which they scored a goal, but they couldn't muster it.
