Sharpton Will Not Protest Knicks Home Games

2007_11_sharpthomas.jpg

One less headache for Knicks coach and General Manager Isiah Thomas and Madison Square Garden: The Reverend Al Sharpton has called off his boycott and protest of Knicks games. Now, if only the Knicks can convince their fan base all is not lost!

Last month, a jury believed former Knicks marketing VP Anucha Browne-Sanders' allegations that Thomas and Madison Square created hostile work environment and awarded her $11.6 million. Thomas said, during an 11-minute segment of his deposition, that, relatively speaking, it was okay for black mean to refer to black women as bitches but it was less acceptable for white men to do so, prompting Sharpton to say, "We are calling on him to apologize because of what came out during the deposition."

But now Sharpton says that the entire deposition showed Thomas feels such language is inappropriate during a press conference with Thomas and Thomas' wife Lynn. Sharpton said, "When people say, 'Isiah Thomas said it,' in the sports vernacular I say, 'Go to the tape,'" thereby freeing people of protesting at Knicks games. Yeah - the only protests will be how sucktastic the Knicks are - many, many boos are expected tonight when the opening line-up is announced during the game against the Timberwolves.

ill he protest the gang related beating in howard beach?

^ Doubt it.

But I see the wrong reverend Al has no problem backing off when it comes to protesting his own kind. His people need to keep that game going so the ghetto youths have something to do when they aren't selling drugs or writing inappropriate rap lyrics.

Will he apologize to the Duke lacrosse players?

Shouldn't the matter of discussion be why anyone isn't protesting Knicks home games. They're terrible, and I sure wish they weren't.

My gut says MSG paid Sharpton off providing a win-win situation for both of them.

I think someone should protest that there are not enough white players on the Knicks and Nets and it's downright racism if you ask me.

Will there be more protestors outside than fans inside knicks games?

I honestly didn’t know sucktastic was a word. How hipster of you. I do realize, you live in Williamsburg and your elite status automatically grants you the right to add new words to the English language whilst publishing web articles. Very cutesational. See, I can do it too.

Scathing criticism on the knicks by the way. Maybe next time you can actually discuss the game basketball when writing a team off? Or is that beyond the scope of what you do here--only inspired by negative publicity off-the-court?

You used to make a lot of "guest" comments, didn't you?

Doesn't sharpton's head look like a penis?

Moneda,

Yep that was me. All the over one hundred thousand remarks were done solely by me.

Do you really think Sharpton backed off because of a lame statement made by Thomas? How do you think he keeps his coalition funded? By a bunch of Confederate flag waving sympathizers? Or does he pass the hat around at his church on Sunday's? The guy wears tailor made suits all the time and has a full time hairdresser. He's a showman just like his old buddy the late James Brown. A man that had many a run in with the law.

I say Sharpton can go f*u*c*k himself. Low life ghetto

No, how about you get a life, yakatori?

that's all you got, huh?

not too good with english comebacks, are we?

how about you learn how to make a proper come back.

you didn't think your best friend could publish sh*t and not have some feedback on it, did you?

We're not all brain dead out here in cyberspace and I don't accept this as news or reporting.

thanks for the engaging conversation by the way.
