Union Square Clash Likely Gang-Related
The early Thursday morning fight in Union Square was apparently set off by a diss. The Post reports that the victims were all affiliated with gangs and the "violence appeared to have stemmed from a show of 'disrespect.'"
The police confirmed that a fight did occur at the McDonald's at East 17th Street and Broadway, but it's still unclear if that fight continued on into the park, where a gunman later fired, injuring four people. Another teen was stabbed during the chaos. With a Halloween party being held at Union Square eatery Luna Park, many people fled the scene upon hearing the gunfire.
The police said that the victims, males who are 15 to 19 years old, all have arrest records and all claim not to know the other victims, according to the Daily News. Police Commissioner Kelly said that one of the teens who was shot in the stomach is "likely" to die.

what is it with blacks and "respect"? these jackass wanna-be gangster mafia thug pieces of shit have all watched scarface one too many times. maybe you'd get a little "respect" in the world if you a) stopped it already with the baggy pants and the dumb nicknames ('fiddy', 'timbaland' – gimme a fucking break) and b) stopped shooting people.
the whole gang related violence is merely territorial statements...maybe if these individuals were based on other thing that the "street",the "group territory"... all this will be avoided...but that requires intervention and no body will step up to show this kids what identities are made of.
Maybe McDonald's can price them out of the city.

BUT, I will agree these kids are thuggish idiots. I can't understand, and I despise this macho, street culture, one which says its ok, no necessary, to shoot blindly into a crowd of people if someone says the wrong thing to you. I grew up around some kids like this and I hated them, they were the worst people I knew. That's why I don't agree w/bleeding hearts who let these kids off the hook b/c they grew up in the ghetto. I'm sorry there are millions of young men growing up poor in Harlem, the Bronx, central Brooklyn, etc. who don't do this sort of thing.
But worse than the bleeding hearts are people like navinjohnson who seem to think that this is some sort of cultural trait of "the blacks". If it were only that simple, then you could just round up all "the blacks" and place them in re-education camps or something right? Maybe you could throw in us "Latins" too. Your sort of enlightened thinking will only make the world a better place I'm sure.
OK, let's throw in the "Latins" too. I'll bet some of the idiots involved in this brawl were "Latins," no doubt.
navinjohnson is totally correct. But put the blame where it belongs -- on the black and hispanic parents who never instilled their kids with any values or goals greater than some vapid concept of gaining respect on the streets from other malformed minority youths.
My favorite part is that the five victims aren't cooperating with the cops. They can "Stop Snitching" all the way to the morgue for all I care.

Ltes gain some perspective here...we can balme parents , and the parents before that...the point is: If the parents are morons are this kids dommed to moronic history for ever?
Schools, and other ways of control are not helping this kids...specially when they don't even go to school.
Oh, now come on, this has everything to do with being raised poorly. That's not to say that a kid with little guidance can't break from the norm, or that a kid with a lot of parental guidance can't break from the norm, but this has everything to do with lazy parenting.
If they don't go to school, isn't that a trait of lazy parenting as well? Sure, kids skip school, all kids do that, but to just not go? That's not the schools' fault. It's the parents' fault.
While I do agree to some degree, that our teachers (esp in cities) need to be given more money and be put through a stricter screening process, it's not the schools' job to babysit these kids. It has to start with their parents/guardians, whatever.
Respect is something that is earned.
Not an automatic given.
The good news is that the "victims" are teenage subhuman savages.
The bad news is that they are still alive.
