Happy Halloween!

2007_10_halloween.jpg

It's a Halloween Hump Day! We will have more details about the Halloween Parade and other events in the city later, but we thought we'd point you to It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown videos on Youtube (part 1, 2, 3), in case you missed ABC's airing last night. You can also get it on DVD, and there's also the book It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: The Making of a Television Classic.

Halloween originated as a pagan holiday but has now turned into a celebration when kids overdose in candy, some confuse costume with wearing as little as possible and stores mark it as the eve of starting their Christmas advertising. So maybe it is still quite pagan.

Are you dressing up for Halloween today? Are you headed to work as a diaper-wearing-astronaut- in-love or is that one the docket for this evening?

for the record, snoopy was not the red baron, he fought the red baron.

Pickles is right. Even so, though, it's a cute costume.

i can't tell you how sad it makes me to see kids that young make gang signs whenever a camera is pointed at them.

I have a technical halloween question. Somewhere along the line I was taught that Halloween came about because tomorrow is All Saint's Day and people get dressed up today to scare away evil spirits so the saints can and souls on All Soul's Day can walk the earth freely or something. Did I totally make that up or is it really a thing?

Courtesy of Roissy in DC, the best costume ever.

MT, google.com = your friend!

what gang symbol is that? Vagitarians?
I'm serious, I don't know.

Is that a real dog in the last photo? He looks scared.

Please someone call the SPCA

My position is the same as before, people who dress up their pets should be arrested and fined for animal abuse.
