TV Dinners: October 29-November 4

tvdinner.jpgWhat’s worth watching on food-related TV this week?

We’re in the thick of it now on The Next Iron Chef (Sundays at 9pm on the Food Network). The Amateur Gourmet says “Finally, it gets juicy!” and puts his money on Symon or Besh. He also points out that these chefs—with national reputations—have much more to lose than your average reality food show competitor. “It’s not really a laughing matter when your business hinges on your reputation and your reputation is continually challenged, undermined, mocked or worse on national television.” And Ruhlman says that last night’s episode “is the best of the series so far.”

Also on this week:

No Reservations is on tonight (10pm on the Travel Channel); Bourdain goes to Vietnam. Wednesday on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares (9pm on Fox), in a repeat, Ramsay does his thing on Dillon’s in NY. Martha Stewart is on Monday through Friday at 1pm (NBC). On Monday, she’s got French chef Stephane Reynaud. And next Sunday After Hours with Daniel (Boulud) is on at 8:30pm on MOJO. And on PBS’ Sunday late afternoon food lineup (4-6:30pm, Channel 13), we’ve got Chef’s Story, featuring Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, then Complete Pépin, with an Thanksgiving-is-coming episode on gravies, carving and wine. The Best Recipes in the World with Mark Bittman follows with an episode on, er, sexy vegetables. Next up is Lidia Bastianich’s Lidia’s Italy with an episode on figs, then Colameco’s Food Show.

What, no love for Andy Zimmern? He's in Vietnam tonight too.
