Last Night's Action: So the Lamp Lights Up?

  • Rangers 2, Devils 0: Everyone who had Nigel Dawes in the pool can collect his money. Nothing helps end a 126-minute goalless streak like a giveaway less than a minute into the game. Dawes took advantage and provided a bookend goal late in the game. The Rangers needed this game, having entered it in last place. Henrik Lundqvist handled himself well in goal, and the Devils looked like the team who came in on a scoring drought.

Of course, the other story in this game was Scott Gomez's first appearance against the Devils. At least he got to play a home game. The Devils finished their nine-game season-opening road trip 3-5-1 and will open their new arena in Newark on Saturday.

best night of dawes life! i was there to watch. not a bad game. they played very well. we had confidence they would shut them out.

As I've said all along, the Blueshirts will be fine.

Now someone not named Nigel needs to score. Let's go, Rangers. 2-0 is not going to cut it against the Leafs tomorrow night!
