Wednesday Food News: Early Edition

img80.jpgThis week in the Times, Bruni goes to Korean restaurant Moim in Park Slope, awards the restaurant one star. Says, “Many of its dishes, distinguished by a beautifully modulated and lingering heat, are compelling. Most are at least satisfying.” Prices are reasonable as well, he says, though service less than attentive.

Ryan Sutton goes to Bobo in the West Village for French/Italian. Stay away from the Italian, he warns. Also, sit inside unless you’re a smoker, as it’s allowed on the patio. Drinks are good, and he loves the mead. Sutton also stops by Market Table, where he likes the food but not the wait.

Paul Adams visits Toloache for the NY Sun, where the chapulin taco is filled with whole dried grasshoppers. Says they have a “toasty, almost singed taste.” He likes the other tacos, too, particularly the one with foie gras. Says that “overall, the restaurant’s worth a visit even for those who play it safe.”

Restaurant Girl gives Tailor one and a half stars in the Daily News. Mason “wages a civil war on your tongue,” she says, and while there are some hits and some misses, with only 12 overall options, the odds aren’t all that great. Her advice? Stick with the salty dishes, and the pork belly is fantastic.

Moira Hodgson also goes to Tailor, for the Observer. Loves the pork belly, the foie gras with peanut butter and the duck with eel in chocolate consomme. Finds Eben Freeman’s drinks “weird” and says the bar and lounge “show all the elements of becoming a scene.”
