Last Night's Action: The Rangers Are Still In Last

2007_10_rangers24.jpgHenrik Lundqvist cannot feel too comfortable these days. The fact is if he makes one mistake, his team is going to lose the game. That is the sorry state of the Rangers’ offense, which while suffering from bad chemistry and untimely injuries has in turn vanished from the face of the ice.

Tuesday night it was Pittsburgh blanking them 1-0, despite 36 shots from New York. In fact, they hit at least one post, so an inch or two and things might have been different, but right now they haven’t scored a goal in their last two-plus hours of hockey.

Losing Straka and Avery is certainly part of the problem, but so is the slow development of any chemistry between Jagr, Drury, Shanahan and Gomez. The top two lines are in disarray and maybe it is time for Renney to consider something radical, like a line of Prucha-Jagr-Hossa?

Personally, I think their defense is average. Nothing poor, nothing great. If the offense took some of their load off, it'd seem above average to me.

Their defense is the only reason the past two games have been close - nothing wrong with the defense or Henrik.

He may win you games, but not a Stanley Cup. Have you seen those postseason stats?

Who's that free agent dude everyone talks about?

Alex Rodriguez. Yeah that dude--can he skate? Let's bring him in as the pivot for Shanahan and Jagr.

What the Rangers are missing is defense and also Michael Nylander. He was a great catalyst for offense.

Drury is overrated, I continue to have no idea why Sather thought he would improve the offense.

Jagr has played well with Prucha and Hossa in the past, but that line lacks a center.

Who are these Rangers people keep talking about, I thought the baseball season is over?

As I said the other day in the pro-Isles post...this Rangers team is far underachieving. so much for that high-powered and upgraded offense - they haven't scored a goal in two games!

Come on Hugh you know NASCAR is waaay more popular than hockey, much better TV coverage too. Unless you get the hockey package good luck seeing anyone play except your local teams.

On the plus side, when you are in last place there is no where to go but up, LETS GO RANGERS!

  • HughGass

Hockey is like NASCAR for the north. Except in New Hampshire where they like both.

  • Dude69

What's the NHL? Is it like the MLS, as in who cares?
