Rudy Giuliani better check his sports allegiances. While campaigning in Boston, a reporter asked the former mayor which team he would be cheering for in the World Series - the Colorado Rockies or the Boston Red Sox. To our surprise (and Bostonist's), he went with the Red Sox, "I'm rooting for the Red Sox. I'm an American League fan, and I go with the American League team, maybe with the exception of the Mets. Maybe that would be the one time I wouldn't because I'm loyal to New York." Last time we checked, the Yankees and Red Sox were bitter rivals. We're betting that you won't catch a Mets fan rooting for the Braves or Phillies in the World Series or a Giants fan rooting for the Cowboys or Eagles.
Sorry Rudy. In our book, you can't be cheering for the Red Sox. Ever. Maybe if the Yankees were tied for the Wild Card and Red Sox were playing the team the Yankees were tied with - then he could cheer for the Red Sox. But in the World Series? Nope. Never. Hey - maybe FOX will invite Rudy to throw out the ceremonial first pitch in Boston and he can wear a Red Sox hat! Think of all the votes that will get you, Rudy.
Guiliani claims that he's not just trying to get votes in New England, "In Colorado, in the next week or two, you will see, I will have the courage to tell the people of Colorado the same thing, that I am rooting for the Red Sox in the World Series." Now is the time for the Yankees to ask for those four World Series rings back.

While you're at it, Rudy, don't bother rooting for the Mets just to score some political points. We don't want you!
I'm so not a baseball fan, but this is totally insulting to New York. Way to stab us in the back there, Rudy.
Hasn't Rudy made a point of repeatedly mocking Hillary Clinton for her disingenuous support of the Yanks, despite her Chicago roots? I can't wait to hear the boos the next time he shows his face in the Bronx.
The Red Sox don't want Rudy Giuliani.
Except perhaps for Schilling.
This is worse than Fredo.
What a piece of living crap. I wasn't voting for the guy to begin with, but now I may campaign against him.
For all this faults, Rudy was always the guy who didn't play these political games. When he was mayor, he didn't pull those "I root for the Yankees and the Mets" shenanigans. He was a Yankee fan and he was unapologetic about it. This just reeks of pandering.
Rudy is just playing politics.
Still, Yankee fans would never root for the Red Sox, since it would somehow upset the balance of the universe.
I am sort of pulling for the Rockies, since they gave the Phillies what they deserved for accidentally making the playoffs - being eliminated as quickly as possible after somehow beating out the Mets for the division. So team that helped restore the balance of the universe by eliminating a team that doesn't even deserve to exist since they are the worst team in the history of professional sport deserves a bit of good karma.
Plus, we are quite fond of Bill Buckner's performance in game 6 of the 1986 World Series.
It's true, American league fans root for the American league. I'm a Yankee fan and I will rooting for Colorado.
It's unNew York to root for a bitter rival, the Boston Red Sox.
C'mon guys... you want to be lighthearted, then make some JOKES about REAL ISSUES, like
-Rudy doubling NYC's debt in just 8 years (and being the most fiscally liberal human in ALL earth's history, on a municipal level)
-or the irony that Rudy MADE Hillary (so if you hate Hill you MUST hate Rudy)
-or the fact that the bunker wasn't put in 7WTC as a "mistake" but rather as a way to kickback taxmoney to Rudy's largest campaign contributor Larry Silverstein.
- Rudy not only protecting child molesters, but refusing to try and fix NY States' insane 5 year statute of limitations on rape (which is the ONLY reason Rudy's childhood buddy ALan Placa isn't in prison for raping kids)...
C'mon.
This guy is likely the most corrupt person in US history. (I'll list 5 million SEPARATE scandals if you doubt me. You can pay me one penny for each I name. Deal?)
Please stop distracting people from real shit.
Next he'll claim it was Judi's idea! God, he's so dumb.
Hey Toby, how's that bitterness working out for ya?
Sorry about your beloved Mets...now there's a squad on the decline. Have fun carting your boy pee-hands out there for one more year.
Was that season-ending collapse, culminating in a steadfast inabilty to beat the mighty Florida Marlins, an accident too?
Hahahahhaahahahahhaha
Character matters. If Guiliani is willing to switch sides to the main enemy in baseball for personal gain, he'd be willing to switch side to his country's main enemy, Canada.
Just more evidence that Rudy is an untrustworthy slimeball who will say ANYTHING to get elected.
Remember, this is the idiot who mocked Hillary Clinton for saying that she was a Yankees fan: I've got a crisp $50 that says Hillary will NOT root for the hated Red Sox!
Let's Go Rockies...clap clap clap-clap-clap!
Guiliani claims that he's not just trying to get votes in New England. Sure sure.
Even though I did vote for Rudy at
http://ourvote.us
This is the smartest thing Rudy has ever done! He knows that the Yankees represent the worst of America! Red Sox Nation welcomes Rudy Guiliani, as long as he keeps politics out of it!
The funny thing is that this will probably turn more of his fans against him than any of his screwed-up history ever could.
If he's willing to do this, imagine what he will do with all his campaign promises. Not like this is anything new.
this guy is a fascist..
A shining example of how a politician will say ANYTHING to get a vote.
