Typcial Day in NYC: Bloomberg, Trump, Hot Dogs

Fridays are bustling on 34th Street, but yesterday was a little different. Billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg was spotted with billionaire developer Donald J. Trump and his three adult children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. What were they doing? Walking, talking, and eating hot dogs. Or at least Mayor Bloomberg was eating a hot dog - he loves hot dogs and they love him!

And why? Because NBC is filming the celebrity edition of The Apprentice. TMZ reported that the contestants include Gene Simmons of Kiss, Vincent "Big Pussy" Pastore, Lennox Lewis, Stephen "I'm a Republican" Baldwin, and Apprentice season one villain Omarosa (she's a celebrity?). TMZ even shot some footage of the hot-dog selling competition, much to the dismay of NBC.

Mayor Bloomberg is #25 on the Forbes list of richest Americans, with an estimated net worth of $11.5 billion; Trump is ">#117 on the list with an estimated net worth of $3 billion, but Forbes notes he "Annually disputes FORBES' net worth estimate" (Trump says he's worth $7 billion). And this is not Bloomberg's first time on the Apprentice - he was part of a season 2 reward challenge!

As muggy as it was yesterday I hope Trump used some Old Spice, wearing that topcoat over his suit jacket.

Since when does Donald Trump represent anything but the worst of what the American economy has become. Trump is the poster boy of the repub "free market" fake social ideololgy that its better for everyone to compete with the rich. Its the American way, etc. ...and stuggling to survive in a competitive atmosphere is a pretext for "democracy", bla, bla, bla...Iraq war. We have left the realm of apologists, and entered the era of fuckyou economics presented as a social virtue. I hope I live to see the tide turn for the sake of my children.

Yawn. A bunch of old, white men in dark, baggy suits. Guys, come into the 21st century. Leather briefcases are a dying breed, and business suits should follow.
