  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a double shooting/possible homicide on Greene St. in Brooklyn, a shooting at Wyckoff Ave. and Starr St. in Brooklyn, and another shooting at East 51st St. and Church Ave. in Brooklyn.
  • An appreciation of Jewish Delis in New York City.
  • To avoid the widespread use of pesticides on its acres of grounds, real estate firm Tishman Speyer released 720,000 ladybugs around Stuy-Town and Peter Cooper Village. The ladybugs will search out and eat tinier bugs that are harmful to plants.
  • An EMT was caught by a city inspector allegedly involved in some risqué business in the back of an emergency vehicle with a woman. The woman claims she is just friends with the EMT, who was transferred from Staten Island to Brooklyn.
  • Federal officials are recommending that JFK cut the number of flights in and out of the airport, saying that it is operating beyond capacity.
  • Jesse Friedman, of "Capturing the Friedmans" infamy, is looking to clear his and his family's name by arguing that children who testified against them had been hypnotized.
  • The woman who's been living in the same house with her estranged husband with a court-ordered wall separating the two has retained the lawyer who helped Catherine Gotti divorce jailed mobster Peter Gotti in 2004.
  • The City Room blog at the Times is conducting a Joe Torre Haiku Contest, with no prize other than the esteem of other Times readers. Remember: 5-7-5 syllables.

Good for Tishman Speyer, practicing Integrated Pest Management at Stuyvesant. Let's hope it works and that it catches on! (The best in the field is Battery Park City's Tessa Huxley, who manages all of the parks and gardens AND BALL FIELDS organically.)

Excellent choice!
Now if Tishman could exterminate the basement areas, compactor rooms and laundry rooms and control the massive roach infestation, that would be great! I strongly suggest geckos.
A stronger rat remediation program on the grounds would be appreciated also.
