- Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a white powder incident at 25 Beaver St. in Manhattan, report of a large crowd gathered at the center of the south side of the George Washington Bridge's upper level, and an explosion in the basement of a building at 77th St. and Lexington Ave. in Manhattan.
- Dedicated bike paths and fences separating them from traffic can only do so much when a cab driver really wants to take a ride down the Lower East Side Greenway.
- Is undead the new black? Earlier this week we witnessed zombie yoga; and now it's ZombieCon on the Upper East Side.
- A Deputy Inspector suspected in the recent steroids bust involving a number of policemen was caught at one time flexing his muscles as Super Sperm. Dep. Inspector Michael Marino says the photo of him dressed as a giant musclebound gamete is a fake.
- A Queens teenager could face seven years in jail after going on a three week shooting spree. Fortunately, it was only with a BB gun, although he could've shot someone's eye out.
- CUNY is hoping to attract many of the 10,000 veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq who are expected to return to New York after deployment. The school is embarking on an aggressive recruiting drive targeting veterans.
- Today is the 20th anniversary of Black Monday on Wall St. On October 19, 1987, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 23%.
- Horses will return to the bridle paths of Central Park through an agreement with the Riverdale Riding Center. Guided tours around the park will cost $100 an hour.
