The hunting season only started on Saturday, but one New Yorker is already in a lot of trouble after some pretty stupid moves. Rosebank resident Alfons Ndokaj was charged with unlawfully hunting a bear cub amongst a number of other violations.
Ndokaj shot and killed a 40-pound bear that was less than a year old in Sullivan County. The Department of Environmental Conservation was tipped off and later tracked Ndokaj at a Middletown taxidermist, where he tried to get the cub stuffed. Not only is it illegal to hunt bear cubs, Ndokaj didn't have a hunting license (he had one in his wife's name), admitted to using bait to lure deer (also illegal), and was driving an unregistered ATV on a public highway.
Ndokaj has an appearance on October 31 in front of Mamakating Town Court; the hunting of a bear cub is a misdemeanor with a punishment of up to a year in jail and a $2000 fine.
Hunting is regulated by the State Department of Environment Conservation, which has many rules and guidelines. And hunting is illegal in the five boroughs.

Hunting is for men with half brains!
What is the need of feeling superior by killing indefense animals. If hunters are so tough why they don'tr hunt other hunters!? That would be a real beast killing sport!
If I needed to kill I would kill hunters first.
People are idiots. Someone should hunt whoever shot this cub.
Maybe in his country they do it that way. I hope they throw the book at him.
Heartless bastard! I hope he gets stuffed by the cub's mother...down her throat.
don't worry-- bears always get revenge. ALWAYS.
What is the need of feeling superior by killing indefense animals.
For the deer it's usually because venison steaks are tasty.
In other news, you can get arrested for unlawfully hunting a bear cub.
Venison is not better than any other red meat available at any butcher.
Hunting is barbaric and the people who participate in hunting are the lowest of the low.
the #1 threat to america? bears.
seriously, this guy was dumb, could he break more laws?
Fucking foreigners
Venison is not better than any other red meat available at any butcher.
I beg to differ. Venison is delicious.
Besides, if you think there's no difference, then don't eat any meat period. If you're against hunting but consume any meat, you're a hypocrite.
I wonder if he was trying to get the bear cub stuffed in one of those "menacing action poses" that they usually put full-grown bears in, like up on their hind legs roaring or whatever. I bet that'd really impress his friends. It might even come all the way up to his thighs!
I don't think his nationality has anything to do with why he could kill a bear cub. He made a bad decision, and now he needs to own up to it.
If we all hunted for our food instead of getting it from MegaCorp processing plants we'd actually probably be better off.
Regardless, nobody's condoning what this guy did, even people who do enjoy hunting. Let's try to stay on topic here, eh? The point is that he broke a ton of laws and hunted illegally.
what a dick. and his WIFE has a hunting license and he doesn't? i hope the judge kicks him in the butt.
Venison is not better than any other red meat available at any butcher.
Know what else is delicious? Cute li'l bunnies.
And why is hunting any more barbaric than throwing livestock into a blender?
This guy is NOT a hunter: he's a killer, and yes, there IS a difference. Tracking, killing, skinning, butchering and cooking your food is how we got here. Our ancestors (with damned few exceptions) were carnivores or, more aptly, omnivores. We are one of the first peoples to have the luxury of abundant food and the ability to choose what we want to eat. That we buy a hamburger from a fast food restaurant does not lessen our involvement with the death of an animal, and morally prevents us from having the standing for criticizing those who hunt. I used to hunt, but gave it up a good number of years ago. (I still enjoy target shooting. Big surprise coming for any right-wingnuts who would assume that all Liberals are unarmed!) None of my many friends who do hunt would use food to lure an animal, and none of them would kill a cub. That this moron wanted to have the body of the cub mounted says a lot to me about his lacking manhood.
"Venison is not better than any other red meat available at any butcher."
Yes, it really IS better... a lot better tasting, as well as being free of growth hormones and antibiotics. But using American meat isn't setting a very high standard for taste. The grass-fed beef I've enjoyed on trips to France, Italy and Chile put our grain-fed beef to shame.
"Hunting is barbaric and the people who participate in hunting are the lowest of the low."
Really? If you have ever visited a feed lot, a slaughterhouse and a meat "processing plant", you might get a better picture of barbarism... the exact barbarism that you are participating in if you eat meat (or, for that matter, use any animal product). I've done all of that, as well as killed , cooked and eaten my own meat. A responsible hunter who eats his own kill is not a barbarian but a human, doing what humans have done to survive for countless generations. Arguing that we don't have to hunt because we can buy precut steaks from the supermarket gives no one moral superiority: it nearly shows a mindless, childlike refusal to take accountability for the death of an animal. The barbarism is in the way that we treat the commercially raised, killed and "processed" meat that we buy in restaurants and markets. Removing yourself from the actual bloodletting does not take the blood from your hands. To believe that it does is to have no idea of what responsibility is, and shows ones inability to judge what is and isn't barbaric. I hold that "the lowest of the low" are those hypocrites who eat "store bought" meat and condemn those who eat what they kill.
That picture of a cute few months old cub is a total cheap-shot playing to some of this population's ignorance. Akin to some redneck site accompanying the same story with a photo of a snarling bear.
I actually came across this rule today as I was going over the hunting regulations in preparation for a trip up to the Adirondacks this weekend and was thoroughly baffled. This rule only applies to a portion of the state (where this guy was hunting) - it is perfectly legal to kill a cub in the Adirondacks - and doesn't have an apparent biological basis (such as not killing females i.e. hen turkeys in the spring).
Anyway, the guy's just a run-of-the-mill jackass - hardly newsworthy.
Aside from the obvious, THERE ARE RULES when dealing with animals, and some, despite the rules, will ignore them.
Any individual who practices such sh_tty ethics, must be jailed, banned from hunting/fishing for life, and pay a whopping fine, as well as being banned for life from obtaining/possessing any firearm/bow, even a slingshot.
No, I do not condone killing humans. But he & his wife should be forever unable to possess any hunting/fishing materials or ever be allowed that privilege/responsibilty again.
And don't get me started on the LES guys who keep 200 snappers and Stripers of any size.
Play by the rules or pay the penalty & lose the privilege!!!
Dadoc
Everyone should just shut up and mind there own business. There are two legged animals killing
eachother and noone feels any sympathy for those that are dieing in the hands of others and you ready to hang someone for killing an animal. Yes it was wrong but my god he did'nt kill a human get a life people and stop trying to ruin the lives of others. This man made a mistake it doesn't make him a devil. There is worst out there.
