MOVIE: The monthly "Monday Nights with Oscar" screens teenage screamfest Carrie tonight. Was anything redacted from this Brian DePalma flick? Ask him yourself, he'll be on hand to discuss the 1976 classic he directed.

THEATER: Theater group New Georges primarily produces new work by female playwrights; their current production is Good Heif by Maggie Smith. Set in a “hot, dry landscape”, it probes the twisted lives of mysterious characters who “try to avoid the pull of their own hidden truths” only to be trapped by them. The story centers on Lad, “who's astonished by the arrival of his manhood. The men of the town laugh at his questions, respond with useless remedies and outsize alarm, and his Pa's advice just won't do. He's forced to wonder whether the devil got into him or whether it's just the lure of what's 'over thar?'” – John Del Signore
8pm // Ohio Theater [66 Wooster Street] // Tickets cost $20.
MUSIC: Doveman, known off-stage as Thomas Bartlett, will be at Sound Fix giving a free performance of new and old tunes this evening. After having not seen him since our Movable Hype show two years ago, we caught him open for The National this weekend with a lovely set of whispery, mellow shy-rock. Color us impressed.
8pm // Sound Fix [110 Bedford Ave, Williamsburg] // Free
