A Brooklyn teenager died yesterday after his family took him off life support earlier this week. Tavin Alves Clarke was shot in the face between 2 and 3 a.m. Tuesday and was found slumped by the window. Police believe that Clarke stuck his head out the window when he heard gunfire and one of the shots hit him. It was his five-year-old brother who found him by the window and ran crying to their mother and sister.
No arrests have been made in connection to Clarke's death, but police did wind up arresting seven people on outstanding warrants while searching for the shooter. The deceased teenager was a freshman at Franklin K. Lane High School and a volunteer lifeguard over the summer. His sister described her brother as a cool, laid-back person who "doesn't mess with anybody." Neighbors seemed surprised that a shooting occurred on a usually quiet block in the Broadway Junction neighborhood in Brooklyn.
