Adopt a Kitty at the Cat Show This Weekend

This Saturday and Sunday, Madison Square Garden welcomes the Annual CFA-Iams Cat Championship Cat Show. The show has many guest speakers and events, like the Feline Agility Competition, which is open to the public's cats, too. And, of course, there is the Best of Breed and Best in Show judging.

We'll have more about the cat show tomorrow, but we wanted to draw your attention to one of the areas. The Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals has a free "Adopt-A-Cat" event at the Garden. Over 500 cats from different shelters and rescue groups around the city will be available for adoption. We met two of the cats available for adoption. A mother and her kittens were found outside the Apollo Theater; sadly, three of the kittens died, but mommy Jazz and baby Bebop are fighters - and super sweet and absurdly cute!

I hope they get good loving caring homes.

I'm seeing a couple of stray kitties outside my high rise. management sent out a memo telling tenants to not feed them and that CACC has been called.

I'd hate to think what happened to them.

In my previous building we had a courtyard where the strays roam.

MT - good point - Jazz is beautiful. I think they are hoping someone will adopt the pair, which makes sense - you don't want to split up a family.

And my husband adopted a 2-year-old cat - who ended up being the most terrific cat and lived to be 19! Adult cats are wonderful.

P.S. I think we should especially note how pretty mommy cat is. So many people go for the kittens when the adults cats are just as amazing and need good homes just as badly.

I can't wait to adopt a pair of my own. I'm hope all the kitties get good homes.

    where are the episcopalians?

  • Jen Chung

Let me say this: Bebop is an awesome fuzzy monster. If I didn't have two cats already, I would have adopted Bebop and Jazz on the spot.
