- The 7 train line was shut down for about two hours this afternoon after power to a number of signals failed. Service was back up by 4 p.m.
- AMNewYork looks at Rudy Giuliani's tendency to take phone calls from his wife while at public events and asks experts if he is rude, shrewd, or whipped?
- Mayor Bloomberg went to bat for Joe Torre, saying that George Steinbrenner would be crazy to fire the manager.
- The deal isn't final yet, but the husband of the Brooklyn officer who shot at a car full of undercover cops is reportedly on the verge of accepting a guilty plea that would send him to prison for 16 years.
- A legless homeless man in a wheelchair was hit by a van on 125th St. and 3rd Ave. this morning. He was then struck by a second vehicle which stayed at the scene while the van sped off.
- The latest 'Nigerian' email scam about unclaimed sums of money available to individuals is purportedly coming from State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's office. Anyone gullible enough to think that New York State would go out of its way to give one money might actually fall for this.
- The Gowanus Lounge notices and photographs hundreds, if not thousands, of fish swimming in the Gowanus Canal.
