Waldorf Towers Address For Brad and Angelina

2007_10_waldordbrangelina.jpg

The center of the paparazzi universe might be the Waldorf Towers at 100 East 50th Street. That's because Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and their brood of children are renting a $100,000/month apartment at the hotel. The Post reports that the Jolie-Pitts "began recently living in a newly renovated, roughly 6,000-square-foot apartment" that has "five bedrooms plus a library that they have converted into a sixth, up to six baths and a huge gourmet kitchen." And there are terraces (plural!).

The Waldorf Towers has a dress code (no "T-shirts, tank tops, faded jeans, cut-offs and casual hats" - is a pork pie hat casual?) and "room service, twice-daily maid service, a round-the-clock concierge -- even a weekly magic show for the kids." Apparently the celebrity couple was thinking about renting at the Time-Warner Center (they do love the Whole Foods there) but got a price break for the Waldorf Towers residence. Other pros: It's closer to the United Nations, Maddox's school, and FAO Schwarz. And interestingly enough, Jolie's father Jon Voight, who she is estranged from, was seen at the Waldorf-Astoria.

A Curbed reader gave a reasonable explanation of why the couple might choose to rent, given that a comparable apartment might cost $20 million and there are no transaction costs. Still, is that worth raising your kids where Paris Hilton spent some of her childhood?

God bless'm. But frankly I don't give a shit what they do or don't do.

    Personally, it looks marvelous!!

I could live there in a heart beat. I have similar furniture from the 30’s & 40’s Italian mahogany claw foot, crown molding, chair rail, gold frames. Yup, almost looks my living room. I guess I dig the old fashioned look better. The rug can go though. And I would have done deep reds, black, tan and gold. Perfect!!!

The Waldorf suites have private elevators that provide super security. I know because I delivered something to Frank Sinatra once!

  • JRod5417

That hotel suite looks like a Faberge egg exploded. Yuck!

Even they gave up on New Orleans, eh?

  • angry_pickle

I can see where they were going with the decor but the curtains look totally nasty.

    Also $100,000/month rent seems insane.

  • guest

they did have one child, a cute girl.

and, what are you talking about in the end of your post? beating up the fair lad?

what kind of sick fuk are you?

Is that really a photo of the home or just the standard stock photo for Saudi princes when they stay there?

  • guest

That's the perennial white trash view of luxury and style - much like what you would see in a guido's long island mansion...

  • guest

I guess they see themselves as royalty, similar to the late former kingness and that divorcee he married because he couldn't face the upcoming war in Europe. Thank god they didn't have children. But then again it would have meant a lot of money for the other boys in the playground if they had. Beating up the fair lad that he would have been at lunch time and again after school.

I am surprised they did not try to get a place at a more hip and edgy place..then again...they probably did this for the kids then anything else.

And I agree...that decor is hideous! It looks so tacky and affected.

I don't consider that chic at all...at least not NY chic.

  • guest

What a lucky kid - just short of being born into royalty...

  • Karen

I agree...that is one hid-jous decorating job! I wouldn't pay $5 to stay in that place! Its so over the top, its overdone, nouveau riche/trash decor. I can almost feel the gold and scarlet flocked wallpaper.

Ah, thanks for the explanation, monty, but I was thinking about Brad's general fondness of pork pie hats.

And #5, I agree - I was thinking that Brad would try to sneak a Gehry chair in there or that it was too roccoco for the kids.

  • AnnaZed

    But, isn't that a T-shirt?

  • monty

If you're referring to Brad's hat in the picture, it's a scally cap, not a pork pie hat.

  • guest

ugghhh. that interior is DISGUSTING!!! why would I pay that much money for old grandma style?

  • guest

    they're teaching them just fine.

    don't worry, they'll adopt more.

  • guest

You could adopt a lot of African orphans for $100,000 a month.

Plus they are not building any equity for their spawn. How selfish of them.

  • guest

How many beanie babies...oops I mean kids... has she collected so far?

  • guest

When was the last time either of these two interacted with the real world? That $100,000 could feed a lot of people.
