Pencil This In

THEATER: Noah Diamond has worked as a licensed tour guide on all the major double decker bus lines in town, presenting his spoken word elucidation of New York in a near-continuous loop – ten hours a day for seven years. But when he finally quit the business, he found he could not stop guiding: “You wake up screaming, I'm not a tour guide! Then you do ten minutes on the General Slocum and go back to sleep.” He’s now found a way to recover, by performing a one man multimedia virtual tour of New York. 400 Years in Manhattan is a theatrical journey that takes not just one loop around town but rolls through four centuries of city history. - John Del Signore

7pm // HERE [145 Sixth Ave] // Tickets cost $10.

READING: Last week we interviewed Ira Glass who told us of his new compilation "These are pieces of reporting that various people have done over the years. Most of them I saved in a stack of papers of newspaper clippings and magazine clippings that I keep on my desk." Tonight Mr. This American Life will be reading from this new book, titled The New Kings of Non-Fiction. Joining him, in print and on stage, are Malcolm Gladwell, Susan Orlean and Chuck Klosterman.

8pm // Town Hall [123 W 43rd St] // $30

200720rollins.jpgMOVIE: Why is it the bad movies that always have sequels? Tonight check out Wrong Turn 2. It stars Henry Rollins (who we genuinely like and are confused by his participation in this). What's the plot, you ask? "A group of reality show contestants find themselves fighting for their survival against a family of hideously deformed inbred cannibals who plan to ruthlessly butcher them all." The horror!

8pm // Pioneer Theater [155 E 3rd St] // Free, RSVP here

MUSIC: We finally had a chance to check out a show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg recently, and couldn't be happier with the place. Just like Bowery Ballroom but with that new venue smell! Tonight Sunset Rubdown takes the stage there and somehow there are still tickets left for the show, buy 'em here!

8pm // Music Hall of Williamsburg [66 N 6th St, Williamsburg] // $17
