Last Night's Action: They Aren't Dead Yet

2007_10_yankswin.jpg

  • Yankees 8 Indians 4: It looked bleak in the third inning. Already down 2-0, the Yankees watched Roger Clemens hobble off the mound with a hamstring injury. But, Phil Hughes came in and stabilized things and Johnny Damon hit a huge three-run home run to put New York ahead. After Trot Nixon misplayed a Robinson Cano single into a three-run event, the Yankees had seized control of the game and reversed the momentum in the series.

However, they still trail 2 games to 1 and Joe Torre’s neck is still on the line. Torre has done the right thing and announced that Chien-Ming Wang will start tonight on short rest. Wang gives the Yankees a better chance of wining than Mike Mussina, but keeping Cleveland in check will not be easy. To make matters worse, Joba pitched two innings Sunday and Mo one, so their availability in a close game is in question. What happens later tonight is impossible to predict, but at least we have another game to watch.

In an elimination game, no one's availability is in question. It's all hands on deck. Joba and Rivera will pitch if they are needed. If they win they have a day off tomorrow.

LET'S GO YANKEES!!!!

DIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE DIE ALREADY !!!!!!!!!!

why is the east of New jersey legally able to call themselves west new york in advertisements?

This is still pretty good for Cleveland. The more they can force the Yankees to use unrested personnel, the better their chances of winning one in Yankee Stadium.

Hell it's even good for the Sox. The longer this series stretches out, the less rested either team will be for the ALCS.

Rivera threw 10 pitches last night, he is anything but unavailable tonight. Expect to see him in the 8th no matter what.

how did the mets do last night?

Where are the rest of the Yankee Bats. Damon is the only guy who seems to be with the program.

The High Priestess told me Colorado is gonna win the WS and she is never wrong

#3: West New York is actually the name of the town in Hudson County, NJ.

Bye bye, Joe! I for one am glad to see him go - there's a time for everything and his time has passed. Let another manager bring up this batch of young players.

#7, obviously you only watched 15 minutes of the game.

user-pic

No wrong #7 watched whole game the Yankee bats are not hot .....Who else was hitting Hmmm?

user-pic

They had 11 hits last night, dipstick. Damon had 3 of them. The only guy who did not contribute last night was Jeter, he hit into 2 double plays. Moron.

It's over...Yanks can join the Mets on the golf course now.
